What's in the video?
We are introducing an exclusive and limited edition blue version of the new Ed Chambers Signature Player Barrels called “The Ocelot” by One80. They are now available for sale along with the original design in this DNA/Chameleon style coating and this blog will cover both styles simultaneously.
The inspiration behind the darts nickname “The Ocelot” is because Ed himself is a fan of big cats and really just cats in general.
Twice the size of the average house cat, the ocelot is a sleek wildcat with a distinct “chain rosette” spotted coat, a long ringed tail, and slightly rounded ears.
Ocelot kittens are arguably the cutest things on the planet!
The original soft tip Ocelot darts come in an 18g and 20g weight options and our limited edition blues comes in an 18g only. All versions are 90% Tungsten made by One80. This dart was designed with the purpose of combining different grip styles and barrel shapes into one allowing for consistent and comfortable grips. The perfect balance transforms into a smooth and steady flight trajectory.
Ocelot Darts - Rear
Regardless of the coating, the barrels are engineered the same. Starting from the back/rear section. You see intense reverse cuts that start off small towards the back and gradually become larger towards the middle. The smaller they are, the smoother they will feel against your skin. The wider and larger they become, they offer a little more bite and aggressive feel.
Ocelot Darts - Center
Then in the center you have 2 little ring cuts separated by indented spaces. This is an excellent reference point for your typical darts thrower looking for moderate grip. Further down you see an eSports style Ocelot logo lasered in the smooth section.
Ocelot Darts - FRONT
Finally, you’ll see an intricate front section with ring cuts that are offset by axial cuts perpendicular to the rings cuts. The axial cuts increase the surface area of the rings cuts which offers more bite and aggressive feel. This allows for some serious control for front grippers. Not only do axial cuts look really cool, it’s a very popular preference for feel that soft tippers seem to love.
Overall the barrel is pretty aggressive. We rated it a 4 out of 5 for grip intensity. It’s extremely well rounded and clearly engineered to accommodate all other types of throws besides just fitting the barrel to Ed’s preference. In summary, a dart for the people!
